Regulations at a Glance

The FIA GT Championship is open to Grand Turismo cars: sportscars with a maximum of two seats and two doors. The cars are racing versions of production vehicles with EU, US or Japanese road homologation. They start in two classes: GT1 and GT2.

The GT1 cars feature a flat skid pad on the underbody between the front and rear axles. In order to reduce costs, the only legal electronics on board are the engine management units. Minimum weight: GT1 940 kg (2068 Lbs.), GT2 900 kg ( 1980 Lbs.). Maximum tire width: GT1 14 inches, GT2 12 inches.

A maximum of three drivers is permitted to pilot the vehicle per race. Drivers may not switch to another vehicle during the race. GT1 cars compete with red starting numbers from 1-50, and GT2 cars with black starting numbers from 51 onwards. Each car has four sets of slicks for practice and qualifying at each race. The number of tires for the race is unlimited.

Practice times:
Friday: 2 x 90 minutes free practice.
Saturday: 2 x 60 minutes qualifying.
The start is a rolling start after the formation lap behind a pace car.

For the driver's and team championships in GT1 and GT2 classes, the point distribution is the same as in Formula 1: 10, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1.
